Just a quick update – for those who want to – you can now submit questions for the game directly, using the new online form.

All questions submitted will go through a verification process!
Thanks, and Happy Triviosity!
Not much going on here as far as development goes. There’s been a few minor updates over the past few weeks with respect to performance – so hopefully the game is working well for you.
There’s been a lot of new users lately too. I’d like to thank those of you who are sharing the game – It’s the only way your friends will find out about Triviosity – so keep it up! You’re awesome.
Hopefully over the next week or two I’ll actually begin working on the long awaited iPod/Phone/Pad version so you can carry Triviosity with you everywhere.
Cheers!
Today’s special challenge is the Pop Lyric challenge #5 (pre 1990s) and Next week we’ll have #6 (post 1990s).
So get your music on.
A few updates to the game were made last week and one problem was pointed out with the score board. If you have any issues with things appearing to not update – it’s related to these changes. I’ve fixed the critical issues with the score list and summary, but the graphs may seem out of sync at times. I’ll fix those soon.
As always, Happy Triviosity!

Questions.
Sorry for those who found the Hockey quiz a bit too hard. Hopefully next week’s special challenge isn’t like this.
For those of you who haven’t had the honor this quiz, head on over and play it now. :)
Since I’d spent a portion of my time a) looking for a real job, b) getting a real job and c) starting my real job – this stuff got delayed. I’m sorry for that. But this wave of updates should be it for a while as far as major features goes. I’ll be concentrating on my job and only working on bug fixes for Triviosity in the near future.
So without further adieu a point form list of updates:
- Lots of copy updates all around. I’ve tried to clean up some of the language and make it more clear as to what is going on in the game. I’ve also added a mini-help page which will grow over time as well as a Privacy Policy so you can know a little bit as to what goes on in the background.
- User Names – I’ve changed the user names on the score lists to ‘[Firstname] [LastInitial]‘ in an attempt to clear up some confusion between people with multiple people that have the same name. You can also edit your first/last name in the Settings page. You can get there by clicking ‘Settings’ in the top navigation.
- User Images – right now I’ve chosen to use Gravatar to provide images for users on the score pages. This is a third party provider that automatically generates these images based on the email address that you registered with. Your email address is not sent to them, but a code is generated using a form of encryption (much like one used to store your password) which can not be reversed. I feel this is safer for you and more flexible than using just Facebook images or having my own image uploading service. This is also the same service that is used on this blog for user images in comments.
- Groups – Finally – you can create groups from your settings page. There’s far more information on the settings page to help you with this. They should be fairly straight forward.
- Individual User Scores – I’ve added pages for each individual user so you can see your friend, or anybody’s history of games without having to search day-by-day. There are also a few averages that show up for you. You can see your own page by hitting ‘Your Scores’ from the top navigation.
- Linking Accounts – I’ve updated the twitter and Facebook linking in the settings page. You can setup if you want to auto-post to either service.
- Email Settings – I’ve updated the settings page to allow you to edit your email address as well as enable/disable any opt-in’s that might be available. As per the privacy policy, nobody has been or will be opted in by default. This is up to you. But please, make sure your email address is legit – it’s useful for password resets and important system messages.
- Score Filters by Group – (this is delayed slightly) Currently the only thing that uses actual groups is score filtering. You can now select which group you want to see scores for. It should make it easier for you to track your friends, colleagues and enemies.
I’m sure there’s far more than just that. Hopefully everything works well and you have no issues ;) If you do however have some issues, please let me know. But before you let me know try: Logout and Login again or delete Triviosity’s cookies or Clear your browser’s cache. If your issue still exists, then let me know.
Thanks and Happy Triviosity!
Darryl
